Zimt Intl. 03/18/2012
Greetings from Sea-Tac Airport! I am about to board a flight to Tokyo, then to Taipei, and had written this for you all a little while ago- first chance to post. Enjoy! Hi There! Thanks, as always, for stopping by- here is an update about what is going on in the world of Zimt! Actually, I would enjoy telling you more about what is happening in my life, Zimt and otherwise. Otherwise first. I moved! I moved out of the home I had been living in for nearly 23 years to a room across town in East Van, in a pink house that reminds me of a pho restaurant and is located near Reliable Guns Vancouver and Fairy Cakes cupcakery and Nice Shoes. I really like it there- it is so warm! Normally, people can work better in cooler environments- keeps the brain sharp. For me, it is the opposite- I am like one of those frogs whose system shuts down and they go into extreme hibernation when things get too cold. Then they can get frozen and, when they are ready to “come back to life” are thawed. Anyway, I haven’t that issue anymore- warm house! It is farther from the kitchen, but I am in that neck of the woods everyday anyway- going to see my cat or whatnot. As for Zimt…. Packaging, packaging, packaging. It is getting a major face lift, and it is looking totally natural. As soon as I finish the organic certification- everything will get sent in for printing and… yep. That’s going to take a few months. Today I am going to Seattle again- in a context unanticipated. What a lovely surprise! Guess I’ve got a 20 hour food coma coming my way…! And tomorrow, I am flying out of Seattle and going to meet Karl in Taipei, before he moves to Canada for one year. I promised to visit him in Taipei at some point, and I figure it be best to do so while he is living there. First time in Asia- should be pretty unreal. I am bringing Zimt product over and also the organic certification things- it is such a crazy amount of work. Must be done, though, or I get to boot from some very important retailers! Customers have been asking about Zimt’s certification- it says “organic” on the packaging, but there is no formal accreditation. Although all of my raw materials are certified organic, there must be a final “check” by a certification body to make sure that I am using a proper final method that is in compliance with organic standards. Which I am. I just need their seal of approval. Thank you for reading and I am looking forward to you enjoying the packaging soon. Please enjoy this beautiful photography of the kitchen.
