Trick-or-Treat… What’s the organic solution?

****** Please note that for some reason I am unable to upload photos to the site! I don’t get it. Going to bug my web genius about it… I just don’t get it.**** but thought you should know…***

Hey Zimtees,

Well it’s that time of year again- year end for Zimt. Yes, that GST payment will be not only frightening but painful.

It’s also almost Halloween! Hope you’re making up individual packets to give trick-or-treaters like these:

… I sure am.

Not.

I mean, not unless I want to be Zimt’s undertaker. Fortunately, there are some ethical, affordable, solutions out there for all those little munchkins.

YumEarth Organics Organic Pops - organic lollipops! All of YumEarth’s products, with the exception of their “bears” and “worms” are totally vegan! All are certified organic. I got my Organic Pops at Zimt retailer Drive Organics

Justin’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups - certified organic, and vegan- and peanut butter. And chocolate. Yum. Yum. Yum!!!

GoOrganic Organic Candies - so long as you stay away from the honey ones, they are vegan, organic, and made with very simple ingredients. I really enjoyed the Ginger Cayenne ones I purchased while in the Dallas, Texas airport while travelling back from Ecuador earlier this year. Ginger is great for recovering from rotten coconut water consumption.

Most people choose to buy organic for themselves, because they want to avoid their own pesticide consumption. That’s great, but here is why I insist on buying organic, even if I never end up consuming what it is.

  • The farmers: do not get exposed to dangerous levels of chemicals. I may never meet the farmers nor their children, but I still don’t want them breathing in vast quantities of carcinogens.
  • The earth: It doesn’t matter who ends up eating the conventional (non organic) food - it still required herbicides, pesticides, and/or insecticides that are all going to go back into the planet we share.
  • The problem: In buying conventional products, you’re voting for farmers to keep employing harmful chemicals, produced by multi-billion dollar companies who could not care less about environmental stewardship, the health of their customers, nor the well-being of wildlife impacted. But they, like everyone, should. Better to care now than to regret later.
  • The recipients: How great would it be for those you are buying for (or their parents) to become more aware of organics and maybe look into them a little more?

Same planet… might as well be considerate of everybody on it.

Happy Halloween, Zimtees!

xo Emma
