All Grown Up Coffee Peanut Butter Cups

Coffee Peanut Butter Cups - vegan, high raw, gluten free Sounds pretty exciting, doesn't it? Well, let me tell you, as someone who has downed a good many of these, that I feel incredibly grown up and full of peanut butter (the former cannot be without the latter, really). My bestie, Leeanne, came over the other day and as basically all of my friendship encounters are somehow contorted into a Zimt making party, treats were one of the inevitable results of our hang out. We had gone to Mexico together about six years ago, when neither of us drank coffee. Kids. But, I vaguely remember sitting outside a little cafe and Leeanne being much more open minded than I, and ordering an Americano. (A Gringo?! Hah.). So I always associate coffee with Leeanne, even slightly. How fitting for

chocolate birthday cake batter smoothie

chocolate birthday cake batter smoothie vegan, high raw, and you can legitimately consume chocolate for breakfast ;-)   I made this twice last week- for my special someone's birthday breakfast (day of) and the Saturday before, just as I was rushing out the door to work for the day. There definitely was no time to make a pancake breakfast…. but this, I believe, is a worthy contender for any special meal. After all, it is made with lots of love (both in the emotional and in the chocolate sense). chocolate birthday cake batter smoothie inspired by the lovely Angela Liddon at Oh She Glows (p.s.- definitely check out her new book!) 1 C water (237 g) ? Vegan Peanut Butter Raw Chocolate Rice Krispie Recipe

Vegan Peanut Butter Raw Chocolate Rice Krispie Recipe These are so good- and actually, I made them what feels like forever ago… (though it was maybe a month or so), but I still remember them fondly! I had been wanting to make rice krispies for forever, but I wasn't about to shell out $9 for a bag of organic rice crisp cereal. So, imagine my delight when I saw a big bag on sale for $5.99- immense! The universe told me that it was time to make rice krispies. You can definitely make this recipe by using brown rice syrup instead of barley malt syrup (to keep it gluten free), but the latter was on sale (score). So after standing at the check out, Googling whether or not one could make vegan rice krispies with barley malt, and thinking "What if this is my last day on earth a

Raw, Vegan, Caramel Banana Cream Pie

Quadruple Layer Raw, Vegan, Caramel Banana Cream Pie   I'm on my second piece in a row… within about 10 minutes. Because it is that delicious- it cannot be helped! Plus, I have to make up for not having pie on Pi(e) Day (March 14th, as the number, Pi, begins with 3.14 (so excited for 2015, when it will be 3.1415!!!!! - the exclamationpoints are purely grammatical to reflect my eager anticipation, not mathematical which would mean a crazy long line of multiplication. I was in the math club in high school, believe it or not.) This pie is raw, so it is really pretty easy to make- not that I've ever tried, but apparently making real, baked pies can be really complicated (hopefully I will never find out…). Four layers of delicious! Plus crust and shaved chocolate- winner, w

Nut Free Triple Chocolate Fudge Brownies (vegan, GF, raw)

Nut Free Triple Chocolate Fudge Brownies (vegan, GF, raw)   Good Saturday!   Hope you've all had a super week- mine was not bad. Some ups. Some downs. No neutrals. But mostly ups, I would say, really. One of the ups, and downs, came in the form of these brownies. The up? Very tasty. Very healthy. Can be very easy to make. The down? … I'm a whiner when it comes to anything culinary (other than directly experimenting with Zimt up-and-coming recipes- that I love. Even when it is chaotic and involves me making

Vegan Double Chocolate Peppermint Cookies

Vegan Double Chocolate Peppermint Cookies When I was finishing up my first year of uni, I was sorting out what to do with my incredibly long stretch of academic-free freedom. Four months seemed like forever and I definitely needed the break after a gruelling first year at fancy business school. I'd organized a volunteer trip with a few friends and knew I would be working that summer, too. But I

raw truffles filled and fancy

raw truffles, coconut sugar sweetened, raw, organic, vegan, fair trade, delicious, fancy, chocolates- they are here!   Hi Zimtees,   Just wanted to share a bit of news with you- in case you haven't heard… we now have some pretty fancy chocolates in our roster of already pretty fancy chocolates. I wanted to get these ones out in time for Valentine's Day, because, well… apparently these sorts of treats are pretty popular this time of year. Background information, though, needs to be shared. It all started just over three years ago, when I was figuring out how to even remotely begin to think of starting a chocolate company. Having zero idea, there was a lot to learn (and, there still is.). Initially, my idea had been to make a macaroon company. But I felt really

Happy Healthy Birthday Cake

What's better than delicious cake? Delicious healthy cake, of course. I decided to make a zucchini cake, studded with chocolate bits to celebrate my loved ones' tastebuds on my birthday. It just makes the cake more… rich, in a way, while allowing you to get some greens in! That's right- just eat this cake and you get your 5 to 10 a day. (Kidding. But it's a start.) This cake is healthy- it isn't gluten free (though I bet you could make it that way if you really wanted to do so), made with coconut sugar and coconut oil, and has Zimt all in it to make you happy. Oh, and zucchini. Speaking of which. Here is why zucchini is a good idea:

  • high in fibre
  • high in antioxidants, such as folate, vitamin A and vitamin C
  • high in manganese- a contributor to nor

raw vegan cheesecake with zucchini!

raw vegan cheesecake … made with zucchini. Don't run away yet! I promise you that you will not be disappointed, should you accept the challenge (but it isn't really a challenge as it is so easy), to make, and eat, this cheesecake.   [gallery ids="423,424,426"] [gallery columns="2" ids="427,425"] Zucchini, like my personal favourite - cauliflower, is an incredibly versatile veggie- rather neutral in flavour, it lends itself really well to a variety of cuisine. Including cheesecake cuisine. I had totally forgotten about it until I searched for a recipe for vegan cheesecake on Pinterest and found one like
